The east coast of the Scottish Borders and nearby East Lothian have a great range of seaside amenities for visitors to enjoy that are within an hour’s drive from Harleyburn.

Coldingham Bay: Situated close to the small village of Coldingham. This is a gorgeous sandy cove with rocky headlands either side, great for sand castles and rock-pooling! Surf board hire and lessons available through St Vedas surf shop.

Eyemouth: Lovely sandy beach in Eyemouth next to the busy working fishing harbour. Great place to spot seals and you can even feed them off the harbour wall. Two superb fish and chip shops. Rib boats also depart from here for those of you seeking adventure on the waves! Great place to buy seafood and shellfish including lobster.

St. Abbs: Has a small fishing harbour in a dramatic setting beneath high rocky cliffs that are home to a huge array of sea birds. World famous place for scuba diving in the St. Abbs Marine Reserve. This is a good place for breath-taking cliff top walks and has a very good café for lunch next to the harbour.

North Berwick: Lovely seaside town in neighbouring East Lothian with a long sandy beach along its front and a large sea-water swimming pool. Large sea-bird centre and several very good links golf courses in and around the town. Boat trips out to the Bass Rock also depart from here.
