MELROSE & LOCAL AREA

Melrose enjoys an enviable position beneath the Eildon Hills and adjacent to the river Tweed, Scotland’s foremost Salmon river. The area is steeped in history and is an ideal base for exploring everything that the stunning Scottish Borders has to offer.

Winner of the 2018 Sunday Times award as the best place in Scotland to live and described by them as a “Country Classic”, it is therefore little wonder that Melrose is known locally as the “gem of Scotland”.

The town hosts a great range of independent shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes all offering a wide range of food and drink catering to all tastes.

Melrose sits at the very heart of the Scottish Borders and is therefore an excellent base for exploring the entire region and beyond. Being located only a mile from Tweedbank station Melrose has great connections to Edinburgh with two trains an hour to the Scottish capital.
